Environmental Advisor

We are seeking an Environmental Advisor to a leading global activist and philanthropist. The Principal supports organizations and initiatives dedicated to securing a sustainable future for our planet. The Principal has built important relationships with global leaders and influencers, staying continually engaged on global environmental issues – climate change, wildlife conservation, access to clean water, protecting biodiversity, marine conservation, etc.

Environmental Advisor

The Environmental Advisor will support the Principal in helping to guide this person’s activism, priorities and public positions. The Environmental Advisor will also continue to position the Principal as a strategic global environmental leader by identifying opportunities to leverage the Principal’s time, talent and resources. The Environmental Advisor will support expanding the reach and influence of the Principal through interactions with public, private, and philanthropic enterprises and networks. The Environmental Advisor should be an individual who is nimble, entrepreneurial, savvy on social media and other strategic communication platforms, and trustworthy. Because so much of what the Environmental Advisor does involves communicating and representing the Principal’s vision, the Environmental Advisor must have the presence, humility and interpersonal skills to work effectively and professionally with a diverse network of individuals.

Professional Qualifications and Personal Attributes

The Environmental Advisor should ideally embody the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the environmental sector and its impact and an understanding of a wide array of domestic and international environmental policy initiatives.

  • Experience working in a flexible, face-paced and highly visible environment.

  • Experience working on issue/policy-related campaigns and activities which generate press and other forms of public engagement.

  • Public relations and strategic communications experience, with a demonstrated capacity to prepare speeches, op-eds, and other commentary to be shared on social media platforms.

  • Ability to generate and deliver clear and persuasive oral and written communications in a fast-paced, creative and dynamic manner.

  • A “can-do” attitude and an ability to listen to others and learn from their best ideas.

  • Articulate, energetic, passionate about science, and possessing impeccable integrity.

  • Impeccable integrity, high energy level, and the possession of a sense of humor.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to travel extensively, often for weekend and evening meetings.


Compensation for the Environmental Advisor includes a base salary and employee benefits package. The position is ideally based on the West Coast.
